The story of Toronto International Film Festival
TIFF — a launchpad for Oscar contenders and one of the world's great film festivals.
Every September Toronto becomes a film capital. TIFF screens hundreds of premieres across King Street West venues, the TIFF Bell Lightbox, and the Princess of Wales Theatre, with red carpets, talks and parties that turn the city into a ten-day celebration of cinema.
History
Launched in 1976 as the 'Festival of Festivals' to bring world cinema to Toronto. TIFF is now a People's Choice Award launchpad with strong Oscar predictability.
