The story of Calgary Stampede
The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth — rodeo, chuckwagons, and a city in Stetsons.
For ten days every July, Calgary trades its glass skyline for a city-wide celebration of Western heritage. The Stampede draws over a million visitors with championship rodeo, chuckwagon races, midway thrills, and free pancake breakfasts on nearly every street corner.
History
Founded in 1912 by American trick roper Guy Weadick, the Stampede grew from a one-off frontier show into the world's largest outdoor rodeo and a defining symbol of Calgary's identity.
