Our Story

Why we built The Canadian Explorer.

From a single road trip to a country-wide love letter.

The Canadian Explorer began with a simple observation: the best Canadian travel advice was scattered across forums, outdated guidebooks, and paywalled articles. We wanted one place that treated the country with the depth it deserves.

What started as a personal notebook of road-trip itineraries grew into an editorial journal used by hundreds of thousands of travellers each year. We are independent, un-sponsored, and obsessed with accuracy.

Every province page, seasonal guide, and travel tip is researched, written, and maintained by a small team of Canadian writers and photographers who have actually been there. You'll also find curated road trips and multi-day itineraries drawn from first-hand travel.

Editorial

How we work.

Independent

We do not accept sponsored placements, paid partnerships, or free stays in exchange for coverage. Every recommendation is earned.

First-hand

Our writers visit every destination they write about. If we haven't been, we say so — and we send someone who has.

Evergreen

Guides are reviewed seasonally. Prices, hours, and routes are verified before every publish cycle so nothing goes stale.
