Hecla / Grindstone Provincial Park

Hecla Island juts into Lake Winnipeg's south basin and was settled by Icelandic immigrants in the 1870s — Hecla Village preserves the original wooden church, school and homesteads. The park is one of the most reliable spots in Manitoba for close-up moose viewing (Grassy Narrows marsh boardwalk almost guarantees them at dawn).
